Consensus not yet reached on key drugs for extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis treatment

Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and extensively drug-resistant TB (XDR-TB) are increasing in frequency globally and are difficult to treat. Although treatment successes have been reported, there are no definitive clinical studies available that show which classes or combinations of available drugs are most effective in yielding positive treatment outcomes.
