STOREP Symposium

S. Dow delivered the fourth “Raffaelli lecture”, in memory of the late Prof. Tiziano Raffaelli in 2020. The
lecture, published in the Symposium, explores the nexus between analysis of climate change and how economics is understood to relate to the physical, social and ethical environment, drawing inspiration from Marshall’s evolutionary approach to knowledge formation and its connections with subsequent development of evolutionary economics and ecological economics.
The article by M. Lavoie on “Modern Money Theory, Sovereign Currencies and the Eurozone” discusses the relationship between modern money theory and other strands in Post-Keynesian economics, explores the role of the legal framework within which Central Banks operate and the concept of monetary sovereignty.
The article by M. Desmarais-Tremblay and A. Stojanović on “Framing Institutional Choice, 1937-1973: New Institutional Economics and the Neglect of the Commons” deals with the economic thought of Ronald Coase and his contribution to the emergence of so-called New Institutional Economics.
The article by B. Ingrao, F. Ruggeri, and C. Sardoni is titled “Are shadow moneys money proper?” enquires into the nature of shadow moneys through the lenses of the contributions to the definition of money by major figures of the past such as Menger, Jevons, Keynes, and Hicks.
