Clinical and translational research activity is focused on: i) development and clinical validation of novel molecular, for diagnosis and monitoring of viral diseases; ii) study of pathogenesis of viral opportunistic infections in immunocompromised individuals and identification of markers of disease risk and progression; iv) molecular epidemiology of emerging (Arboviruses, Picornaviruses, HEV etc.), and respiratory (Influenzaviruses, Coronaviruses, Picornaviruses, Paramixoviruses etc.) viral infections; v) pathogenesis of virus-related tumors; vi) molecular mechanisms of viral drug-resistance; vii) molecular surveillance of emerging pathogens
