The Civil Law I course aims to help you achieve the following goals: - Knowledge and understanding of contract law (getting and mastering general and specific knowledge in the field of contract law) - Ability to apply knowledge and understanding (ability to use knowledge and skills to solve problems and practical cases) - Independent judgement (ability to gather and interpret data useful for making independent judgements, including reflection on social and ethical issues) - Communication skills (ability to communicate information, ideas, problems and solutions to specialist and non-specialist audiences) - Learning skills (development of the skills necessary to continue studying independently or in a structured manner)
Course Prerequisites
In order to take the civil law exam, the following subjects must be taken as prerequisites: Institutions of Private Law and Constitutional Law. A solid knowledge of private law is essential. For this reason, it is recommended that students review the fundamental concepts of contract law (Articles 1321–1469 of the Italian Civil Code) before or while studying for the civil law exam. In this regard, we suggest the use of the manual adopted in the course of Private Law.
Teaching Methods
The course takes place over 40 hours in the first semester. Lessons will be held in person. During the lesson, a PowerPoint presentation will be shown to support the explanations and will be uploaded to the course's e-learning platform. The lesson will be divided into a theoretical part and a practical part, with discussion of concrete cases. The supplementary materials may be indicated or distributed during the lessons. On the e-learning platform the professor will upload the materials related to the course (power point presentations, case law, scholarly articles).
Assessment Methods
The assessment will be through an oral exam, with the final grade out of thirty (30/30).
