To introduce the objectives of the thesis work and the main guidelines for structuring the final project, through the analysis of appropriate documentation and the presentation of experiences and case studies, with contributions from faculty members of the Department representing different disciplinary areas.
Course Prerequisites
No prior knowledge is required.
Teaching Methods
Lectures, with assignments or written work that students will be required to prepare and discuss in subsequent sessions.
Assessment Methods
Learning will be assessed through an individual assignment consisting of a simulated thesis project. The assignment should include: – a provisional title, – an abstract, – a research question, – a preliminary table of contents, – a brief literature review, – a selection of initial bibliographic references, correctly formatted. The assignment may be briefly discussed in class.
Contents
The course will cover the following topics: Structuring a thesis; Research methodology; Types of scientific documents; Constructing a bibliography; Sources of data and charts.
