The module is organized in lectures with slides. The lessons will be developed following a common path to all topics: definition of pathology, etiology and pathogenesis, epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and prevention. The presentation of clinical cases will enrich the lessons. During the lesson, students will be able to intervene with questions and observations. At the end of the lesson, space will be given to the clarifications necessary for understanding the topic. A part of the last lesson of the course will be dedicated to focusing on the main fundamental concepts for understanding the single topics covered during the course and allow you to resume some passages that may not have been clear.

During the course, the following topics will be covered: Infectious diseases: definition, role in human pathology, modes of transmission, prevention, main criteria for diagnosis. Viral hepatitis: HAV, HBV, HDV, HCV, HEV. Modes of transmission, clinical manifestations, and diagnosis HIV infection: epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and prevention. Infective endocarditis: etiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and prevention. Oral infections: oropharyngeal candidiasis, herpesvirus infections. General principles of epidemiology and prevention of Health care associated infections Occupational exposure risk for healthcare professionals, prevention rules and post-exposure prophylaxis.
