Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims are to understand embryology, comparative anatomy and human anatomy with sufficient detail to allow knowledge of human anatomical structures, particularly regarding current biotechnological applications. The course will be oriented towards the theoretical and three-dimensional knowledge of anatomical structures and their application to the biotechnology field.

Knowledge of Cytology and Histology

Teaching Methods

The course consists in 48 hours of lectures with the help of PowerPoint presentations. The course is divided into 2 portions: human anatomy for 3 CFU and the other, comparative anatomy for 3 CFU. All the treated topics are from both points of view, that of human anatomy and that of comparative anatomy, which also allows a fuller understanding of the human anatomy. With the analysis of the similarities and the anatomical-functional differences, indeed, comparative anatomy is able to unveil the laws that regulate the organization of an organism and to reconstruct its evolutionary history. This interdisciplinary vision finds, as a unifying moment, the theory of biological evolution since, citing Theodosius Dobzhansky, "Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution."
