Abstract:
A 21-year-old woman went to the emergency room complaining of cough, mild hemoptysis, and fever. She also had been experiencing middle and low back pain for a week. She had no respiratory failure, but markers of inflammation in blood were slightly increased. Chest radiography and ultrasonography showed unilateral left pleural effusion and slight ipsilateral pulmonary consolidation. Pneumonia with parapneumonic pleural effusion and pulmonary embolism were considered in the differential diagnosis.
