The book documents the results of the "journey" of a jurist and a philosopher in the lexicon of restorative justice, to understand the latter's meaning and transformative power, capable of promoting a profound redefinition of criminal justice as well.
The key words of restorative justice are proposed one after the other: relationship, community, dialogue, capacity, responsibility, reconciliation, care, truth, inclusion, transformation, justice, democracy, sustainability. Each of them is considered first in its juridical profile and then in its cultural value. In this way, the skills of the jurist and the philosopher enter into dialogue to outline the face of a welcoming justice, which is such to the extent that it is able to work on the interpersonal and social relationship, on dialogue, on reparation of the offense, on the listening to the needs of the victims, about inclusion, about truth. What emerges is the profile of a culture and a legal practice finally addressed to everyone and everyone, with a view to a cure capable of universality.
Such a path shows how justice as such consists not in punishing but, first of all, in awakening consciences, in promoting respect for the inalienable dignity of people, in renewing relationships and in healing situations compromised by conflicts, violence. , from the disregard of rights.
A welcoming justice is justice that is close to people, reliable and understandable, of which it is possible to have concrete experience.
