Ancient Greek comedies offer many scenes of symposia; one the most dis- cussed question is wheter they were ›staged symposia‹, i.e. performed on stage, or ›banquet narrative‹, i.e. happened off-stage and described to the spectators. Basing on some passages of the middle and the new Comedy, on the one hand the question of the staging of the symposia is considered, on the other hand the same texts are discussed to focus on some specific characters and features of the comic symposia.
