Abstract:
Inserted in the theoretical framework of Media Geography, this work aims at
deconstructing media narratives emerging in Italy both from the traditional media
ecosystem and social media with a specific focus on a highly debated issue,
namely, climate change, to scrutinize to what extent these two media dimensions
shape overlapping and/or conflicting narratives on the topic. As a result, the work
is organized as follows: first, it analyses the role of old and new media in shaping
opinions and perceptions at the individual and collective levels; the third paragraph
synthesizes methods and methodological frameworks; the fourth paragraph
focuses on the findings of our analysis, while the last paragraphs include discussion
and conclusions.
