The essay analyzes the transformations of urban planning law in the era of the environmental and climate crisis. Starting from the interconnections between soil and water and the forms that the environment takes in urban contexts, the regulatory and planning solutions specifically oriented towards environmental protection are illustrated. The reflection also focuses on the social costs that make the environmental transition more difficult and focuses on how the digitalisation of urban planning decisions (also through tools such as the digital twin) can guarantee greater participation and the necessary adaptivity in urban planning.
