Clinical Ethics at Early Stages: What Growing Strategy?

In countries like Italy, there is a sporadic presence of Hospital Ethics Committees and few professional clin- ical ethicists (or PCEs). In such realities, what is the relationship between Committee and professional ethicist? Should they both coexist and mutually reinforce each other, or is it better to switch immediately to a PCE primary model? In our opinion, the first option appears more appropriate.
