abstract:
This chapter examines the relationship between the protection of minors, participation in sport, and freedom of religion, exploring sport as a privileged setting for the development of personal identity and the exercise of fundamental rights. After outlining the legal framework governing the minor's right to freedom of religion, the analysis considers the principal legal issues arising from the reconciliation of the minor's evolving autonomy, parental responsibility, the best interests of the child, and the organisational requirements of the sporting legal order. Particular attention is devoted to the role of case law and faith-based sports organisations in promoting educational and inclusive environments, highlighting the challenges posed by religious and cultural pluralism. The chapter argues for a balanced approach that safeguards freedom of religion, protects the developing identity of minors, and recognises the educational function of sport as a key context for fostering inclusion and citizenship in accordance with constitutional principles.
