abstract:
The s.c. “Testament of Vibius Adiranus” is an epigraphic pompeian text that gives interesting starting points for the study of law among Oscan populations before the complete Roman hegemony. The inscription, probably datable to II century B.C., belongs to the age when Sannitic Pompeii was civitas foederata; juridical elements of the legacy are analyzed both on the private law viewpoint and on the public law one, in comparison with Roman law, but also paying attention to possible preservation of epichorical institutions: trístaamentud; trííbúm; Vereiia; kvaísstur Púmpaííans and assembly’s role.
