SALVATORE VINCENZO

Born in Varese (Italy), 8th August 1963.
Full Professor (“Professore ordinario”) of European Union Law at the Department of Economics, University of Insubria, Varese (Italy), where he teaches Institutions of European Union Law and International Trade Law (in English).
Alumnus of the Almo Collegio Borromeo, he graduated in Law at the University of Pavia in 1986 (cum laude).
Visiting fellow at the Faculty of Law, University of Hull (UK) in 1987.
Boursier Schuman at the European Parliament in 1988.
Ph.D. in European Law obtained in 1991 from the European University Institute in Florence.
Admitted to the Centre for Studies and Research at the Hague Academy of International Law in 1991
Research fellow (“Ricercatore”) at the Faculty of Law of the University of Pavia from 1st March 2002 to 31st October 1999
Associate Professor of International Law at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Insubria, Varese from 1st November 1999 to 27th December 2004
Professor responsible of Jean Monnet module on Public Procurement and EC law from 2000 to 2004
Full Professor (“Straordinario”) of International Law at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Insubria, Varese, from 28th December 2004 to 31 October 2018.
From 16 November 2004 until 15 June 2012 he was seconded to the European Medicines Agency in London (EMA) where he served as Head of the Legal Service.
His main field of interest focuses on European Union Law. His most recent research activities relate to European Agencies, EU law governing the assessment and supervision of medicinal products and rules governing free movement of people between the EU and Switzerland.
He is the author and/or editor of several books and and many contributions on topics of EU law published by distinguished law journals.
Native Italian, he is fluent in English, French and Spanish
Member of the Italian Society of International Law (SIDI)and of the Italian Association of European Union Law Scholars (AISDUE).
