Overview
Saverio Lomartire is a full professor of Medieval Art History and is affiliated with the Department of Human Sciences and Innovation for the Territory. His research interests focus on architecture and the arts, primarily from the Early Middle Ages to the Romanesque period, with additional interests in medieval goldsmithing and epigraphy. He sits on the scientific committees of various academic societies and scientific journals, including those in
Category A. He is co-editor of the open-access scientific journal *Medioevo Europeo*. He has participated in numerous conferences and contributed to several exhibitions in the field of medieval studies.

Since 1 October 2001: Associate Professor of Medieval Art History (SSD L-ART/01) at the University of Eastern Piedmont "Amedeo Avogadro".
In 2015 he obtained the national scientific qualification as full professor for the scientific-disciplinary sector L-ART/01 - History of Medieval Art (area 10/B1).
1997-2001: official curator of the Civic Museums of the Visconti Castle in Pavia.
Academic years 1997-1998 and 2000-2001: contract professor of Medieval Epigraphy at the School of Specialisation in Archaeology of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan.

FIELDS OF RESEARCH:
Architecture, Sculpture, Painting and Applied Arts of the Middle Ages, with particular reference to the 7th-14th centuries; Medieval Epigraphy; Artistic Techniques.
Scientific activity:
From 1990 to 1995 he took advantage of a five-year scholarship provided by the State Ministry of University and Scientific and Technological Research to conduct specialisation and research activities on medieval painting in the Alpine area at the University of Lausanne, under the guidance of Prof. Carlo Bertelli.
He was a member of the Scientific Council of the Interdepartmental Centre for Studies and Research on the Conservation of Cultural Heritage at the University of Pavia.
As a scholarship holder of the Italian Centre for Studies on the High Middle Ages, he took part in the XXXVII International Study Week on "The Plant Environment in the High Middle Ages" (Spoleto, 30 March - 5 April 1989) and the XXXIX International Study Week on "Clients and Artistic-Literary Production in the High Western Middle Ages" (Spoleto, 4-10 April 1991).
From 1994 to 1998 he took part in the National Research Project: Rilievo dei monumenti medievali in Italia (Survey of Medieval Monuments in Italy), directed by Prof. Angiola Maria Romanini, financed with MURST 40% funds.
1999-2001: scientific leader of a project financed by the Lombardy Region for the collection on microfilm of all the existing codices belonging to the Visconti-Sforza Library of Pavia Castle and for the creation of a documentation centre relating to the Library itself.
In the academic years 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 he participated, as an associate professor at the University of Eastern Piedmont, in a National Research Project (PRIN) on artefacts between Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages in the territory of Vercelli.
He has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the exhibition: Canossa 1077. Erschütterung der Welt, Paderborn. 21.7 – 5.11 2006.
From 2006 to 2008: member of an international work group on early medieval sculpture (Müstair, Switzerland and Stiftung für Forschung in Spätantike und Mittelalter - HR. Sennhauser, Zurzach, Switzerland).
2006-2007: director of a research project on the architectural and artistic emergencies on the ancient roadways in the pre-alpine area, financed by the Fondazione CRT of Turin - "Alfieri" Project (competitive call).
He has been a member of the Commission for the enhancement of the cultural heritage of the Ospedale Maggiore of Novara.
2009-2015: Head of the local research unit of the project: MEMIP (Medieval enamels, metalworks and ivories in Piedmont: art-historical and scientific methods for their evaluation), funded by the Piedmont Region Government.
2014-2015: member of the International Scientific Committee for the celebrations of the 14th centenary of the death of St. Columbanus (615-2015).
Currently president of CenISCo (Interdisciplinary Centre for the Study and Conservation of Cultural Heritage) of the University of Eastern Piedmont.
