Overview
Prof. Michele Ghidini is Associate Professor of Medical Oncology at the University of Insubria and Director of the Medical Oncology Residency Program.
He obtained his PhD in Medical Sciences (Doctor Europaeus) from the University of Parma and a second-level Master’s degree in Molecular Oncology and Precision Medicine from Sapienza University of Rome. He also completed a managerial training program in oncology at SDA Bocconi School of Management.
He is actively involved in clinical practice, teaching, and research in the field of Medical Oncology, with a particular focus on gastrointestinal malignancies, and is engaged in multicenter and international clinical and translational research programs. His scientific activity focuses on molecular mechanisms, predictive and prognostic biomarkers, and innovative therapeutic strategies in gastrointestinal cancers, with a specific interest in precision medicine and immunotherapy. He is the author of over 200 scientific publications indexed in international journals and serves as principal investigator and coordinator in numerous clinical trials.
He has gained training and research experience in both national and international settings, including the Institute of Cancer Research and the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. He holds active roles in research groups and scientific societies, as well as editorial positions in oncology journals. His academic activity also includes a strong commitment to the training of medical students and residents, as well as the organization of scientific events.

Since 2025, Associate Professor of Medical Oncology and Director of the Medical Oncology Residency Program at the University of Insubria (Varese, Italy). Consultant Medical Oncologist at Circolo Hospital, Varese, with clinical, research, and teaching responsibilities.
Professional experience:
Consultant Medical Oncologist at Fondazione IRCCS Ca’ Granda Policlinico, Milan (2019–2025); Medical Oncologist at Cremona Hospital (2015–2019); Research Fellow at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London (2014–2015). Specialist training at Humanitas Research Hospital, National Cancer Institute, and Policlinico of Milan.
Education:
PhD in Medical Sciences (University of Parma), Master’s Degree in Molecular Oncology and Precision Medicine, Executive course at SDA Bocconi School of Management. Medical Oncology specialization and MD degree obtained with highest honors.
