ZANARDINI ELISABETTA

I received my degree in Biology and my PhD in "Chemistry, Biochemistry and Ecology of Pesticides" at the University of Milan. Since 2000-2005 I have been a Researcher in Microbiology at the University of Milan and since 2005 I have been Associate Professor of Microbiology at the Department of Science and High Technology of the University of Insubria. In 2009 I have been awarded a 2-year Marie Curie IEF-FP7 fellowship - "Biological agents that actively attack stone works of cultural heritage"; during this project I worked at the University of Warwick, employing specific molecular biology techniques for the study of microbial communities that colonize and deteriorate stone cultural heritage. My research activity concerns microbial ecology and environmental microbiology studies: bioremediation of contaminated soils, biodegradation of organic pollutants, wastewater treatment and biodeterioration/biorestoration of stone cultural heritage.
