LOCATELLI DAVIDE

Born in 1954 in Milan, Italy. Graduated from the University of Pavia, Italy in Medicine and Surgery in 1978. Between 1982 and 2002, he continued his work in Pavia, specializing in neurosurgery,neurology and vascular surgery.
Adjunct Professor in endoscopic neurosurgery and minimal invasive surgery and Adjunct Professor in malformations of the nervous system at the Neurosurgical Institute of the University of Pavia from 1998 until 2009, and in Neurosurgery in 2010 at the Endocrinological Institute of Pavia.
Head of the Minimal Invasive and endoscopic Unit in the Neurosurgical Clinic , I.R.C.C.S. San Matteo in Pavia till 2012.
He has been chief of Neurosurgical Dpt at the Civic Hospital in Legnano (Milan) from 2013 to 2015.
Full Professor in Neurosurgery at the University of Varese, Chairman of the Division of Neurosurgery in Varese up to now
After a short period at the New York Medical Center and at the Institute of Neurosurgery of Zurich, Switzerland, he worked primarily in the field of vascular neurosurgery; then for a long period, practiced pediatrical neurosurgery including a stay at the Philadelphia Children’s Hospital.
In 1991, he started practicing endoscopic neurosurgery for children in Italy, and from 1996, continued by focusing on minimal endoscopic endonasal neurosurgery for adults and children. In 1997, he founded the Multidisciplinary Endoscopic Center in Pavia.
From 2000, he has been invited yearly as professor in the Vesalius Practical Course on Advanced Endoscopic Surgical Techniques of Paranasal Sinuses and Rhinobasis in Brussels, Belgium, and from 2001, in all courses of Endoscopic Pituitary Surgery in Naples, Italy, as well as, from 2005, in Vienna, Austria, and then in Barcelona, Spain,and in Paris, France, as faculty in the European Skull Base Surgery Diploma.
He partecipated as professor in dissections courses also in Moscow, Beijing, Istanbul and Paris.
He graduated from the Bocconi Business School of Milani 2003. In 2001, he was recognized for his work on endoscopic surgery by the Chamber of Commerce of Pavia with the “New Frontiers in Pavia” special award.
Member of the Italian Neurosurgery Society, elected twice as coordinator of the Neuroendoscopy section of the Italian Neurosurgical society. Member of the European Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery, and of the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery,the Italian and the European Cranial Base Society.
Elected president of the Italian Skull Base Society from 2016.
Italian representative for the next four years in the European Skull Base Society, President of the European Skull Base Society from 2022,he has been nominated in the committee of the World Federation Commission for Neuroendoscopy and he is member of the executive board of the International Federation of Neuroendoscopy.
He is author of over 70 indexed articles and has written chapters for over 35 publications in books in italian and english language.
He has participated as an invited speaker at numerous International congresses and courses and has been,among many other congresses,one of the Presidents of Endomilano 2014.
