The research group deals with the study of the root system of plants with particular reference to the dynamics and morphology of fine roots and the architecture of structural roots. These characteristics are related to the influence of abiotic and anthropic factors, environmental stressors, and organic amendments (biochar). The research group is also involved in the identification of molecular factors that control the development of the root system and the release of bioactive organic molecules into the rhizosphere. Of particular interest is also the morphological and molecular study of plant organisms that have grown with specific light spectra originating from LED systems. Finally, besides the model plants such as Arabidopsis and Populus, the object of the research are also species of agronomic and forestry interest.
