Obiettivi Formativi
Information is an extremely necessary and valuable service in today’s world. Information is far more accessible than it ever was and is generated by a far broader range of authors than ever before. Indeed, everyone is an information producer and maybe publishing some of this information. Because of this incredible abundance, it is imperative to be able to efficiently find information and to critically assess and evaluate it and the sources in which it appears. Noteworthily, it is also important to have a good knowledge of the sources in order to give to each scientific work the adequate opportunity.
In this course, you will learn mainly the most common scientific information sources and strategies for finding storing and evaluating the information in closed and open systems. Examples from scientific, technical, and medical literature will be used to achieve this purpose. You will learn about the flow of information in sciences, how to be effective at the research process, how to access information in a variety of formats, and how to formulate effective searches on electronic databases and the Internet.
At the end of the course, the student will be able to recognize which are the sources of information and the different search strategies to look for the requested material.
