Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course provides students with comprehensive knowledge of orthopaedics and traumatology, focusing on the diagnosis, management, and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.

The course aims to enable students to:

understand the pathophysiology of musculoskeletal diseases

recognize clinical presentations of major orthopaedic conditions

interpret diagnostic imaging and clinical findings

understand indications for conservative and surgical treatments

collaborate effectively in patient management within multidisciplinary teams

Students will acquire knowledge of:

anatomy and biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system

pathophysiology of orthopaedic and traumatic conditions

major orthopaedic diseases (degenerative, inflammatory, traumatic, congenital)

diagnostic methods, including imaging techniques

principles of orthopaedic surgery and conservative management

Applying Knowledge and Understanding

Students will be able to:

perform basic clinical assessment of musculoskeletal disorders

recognize key signs and symptoms of orthopaedic conditions

interpret radiographs and other imaging modalities at a basic level

identify appropriate management pathways

understand peri-operative patient management

formulate differential diagnoses in orthopaedics

evaluate clinical severity and urgency

assess indications for surgical versus conservative treatment
