At the end of the internship, students should be able to: - Implement good practices in doctor-patient relations (interview, rrelationship, information, clarity, obtaining consent) - Have the ability to take a medical history and perform a physical examination in an outpatient setting - Understand and apply clinical reasoning, i.e. identify priority or urgent problems and secondary ones, propose diagnostic hypotheses and identify the most sensitive and specific diagnostic tests to confirm or rule out the hypotheses - Interpret laboratory tests - Interpret diagnostic imaging reports - Navigate decision-making processes related to pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment - Complete the admission/discharge report and be able to complete the discharge letter - Assess the appropriateness of the indication for admission and indicate rehabilitation or protected admission pathways in other facilities - Frame the reason for admission in the context of any chronic conditions, other critical issues and frailties of patients - Indicate preventive and health education measures - Be familiar with the organisation of the National Health Service and the Regional Health Service - Be familiar with the rules of the department (or clinic) in which they work - Interact appropriately with the medical, nursing and technical staff of the department - Understand the different roles and responsibilities of team members - Demonstrate an active, inquisitive and proactive attitude
Course Prerequisites
Internship experiences 1, 2 and 3. Enrolment in the fifth or sixth year of the course. Passing the fundamental exams of the fourth year of the course.
Teaching Methods
Activities at the patient's bedside, in diagnostic services or in the operating theatre under the supervision of a tutor.
Assessment Methods

Durante la frequenza del reparto di area Chirurgica lo studente verrà assegnato ad un medico con funzioni di tutoraggio e successiva valutazione. La frequenza del tirocinio favorirà la formazione pratica dello studente partecipando alle attività del reparto ed applicando le buone pratiche apprese durante il corso di laurea. In particolare lo studente potrà: - Eseguire anamnesi ed esami obiettivi completi; - Formulare ipotesi diagnostiche valutando anche le eventuali diagnosi differenziali; - Proporre ed interpretare approfondimenti diagnostici quali esami di laboratorio, esami radiologici, esami anatomo-patologici e consulenze specialistiche; - Partecipare alla programmazione del percorso idoneo alle patologie e alle esigenze del paziente gestendo il piano di ricovero, l’indicazione ai principali interventi chirurgici, la terapia medica idonea la programmazione della dimissione; - Assistere all’attività dell’èquipe di reparto in Blocco Operatorio; - Prendere parte all’eventuale attività ambulatoriale gestita dell’èquipe di reparto; - Redigere la lettera di dimissione dando le corrette indicazioni per il piano di cura del paziente al domicilio e gli eventuali follow-up. - Approfondire l’organizzazione del SSN all’interno delle ASST e delle strutture ospedaliere.
