The course is based on lectures with slide presentation, examples, exercises and practical sections on the use of bibliographic databases on the web (PubMed), drawing of epidemiological studies, population surveys, meta-analysis.
Contents
The course introduces the fundamental principles of epidemiological methodology and the main types of studies used in health research, including both observational and experimental designs. It presents the main epidemiological measures used to describe the frequency of diseases and the associations between risk factors and health outcomes. The program also explores the concepts of study validity, with particular attention to bias, confounding, interaction, and the methods used to control them. Finally, methodological tools for the analysis and interpretation of epidemiological data will be illustrated
