To provide participants with the theoretical knowledge and clinical skills necessary to understand the pathophysiology of the main kidney diseases, correctly interpret laboratory and instrumental tests, and appropriately manage patients with acute and chronic kidney disease, including indications for renal replacement therapy.
Course Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology, internal medicine, and pharmacology, with particular reference to the mechanisms regulating fluid and electrolyte balance, acid–base homeostasis, and blood pressure.

Pathophysiology of renal function, clinical and laboratory / instrumental kidney and renal function, proteinuria, hematuria; Acute renal failure; Chronic renal failure, polycystic kidney disease; dialysis; Glomerular diseases: glomerulonephritis pathophysiology, nephrotic syndrome, acute nephritic syndrome, rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis, pauciasintomatic abnormalities of urinary sediment, secondary glomerulonephritis Tubulo intestitiali diseases: generalities, classification, acute and chronic forms, pyelonephritis and urinary tract infections; Metabolic acidosis of renal relevance, other pH alterations; Renal vessels: arterial occlusion, venous occlusion; stones; prostatitis; Neoplasms of the urinary tract.
