The aim of the course is to give basic knowledges and skills to develop a technical activity in the field of prevention and management of the fire risk. The arguments of the course program give a picture of theoretical and practical activities in the field of the management of fire risk, connecting to the topics with the national Rules. Learning outcomes At the end of the course the Engineer will have the basic capacities: To know the combustibles, the ignition sources, the reactions and the products of combustion; To evaluate the fire risks (for life, goods and environment); To know the fire protection systems (active and passive); To choose and use fire personal protection systems and fire mobile active protection systems; To refer to technical and legal rules; o To contribute to project, construction and management of fire prevention and protection systems; To contribute to project and management of emergency plans.
Course Prerequisites
The basic concepts of Chemistry, Electrotechnics, electrical systems and electric risk, Hydraulic and hydraulic plants
Teaching Methods
The course is held with lectures. During the lessons a series of slides will be projected; they contain the definitions and principles established the current regulations and by the rules of good technique; in addition, presentations contain multiple images of materials, schemes, plants.
Assessment Methods
The test is a written exam made up of 10 questions with open answer (available time 1 hour). Assessment system: 3/30 for each correct answer, 1/30 or 2/30 for each correct answer but not complete, 0/30 for wrong answers or question without answer; 18 points (18/30) is the minimum to pass the test. The teacher will value the student’s grade of knowledge and the ability in the explaining arguments and presenting outlines, schemes, graphics and figures. All the topics presented during the course will be part of the final exam. During the test, exiting the classroom is not allowed as well as the use of mobile phones or other electronic devices. At the end of the exam the students must give back all papers given at the start with full name.
