The course will be structured with frontal lessons with the aid of slides interspersed with various moments of direct involvement of the students and discussion with them. Students are obliged to attend lessons as established in the teaching regulations of the course of study and to sign the attendance sheet in order to take the exam. The teacher undertakes to make the presentations projected during lessons and other material of interest (clinical cases) available via the University IT platforms (e.g. e-learning) to which students have access.
Contents
The Digestive System Surgery module will take into consideration the main pathologies of which the epidemiological and etiopathogenetic aspects, the clinical presentation, the course and the development of any complications will be identified and discussed. in particular the following pathologies will be treated: - Esophagus: achalasia, gastroesophageal reflux disease and hiatal hernia - Stomach and duodenum: pyloric stenosis, peptic ulcer, benign/malignant stomach tumors, Mallory-Weiss syndrome - Pancreas: acute and chronic pancreatitis, pseudocysts, neoplasms - Liver and biliary tract: cholestatic jaundice, biliary tract stones, infections, primary and metastatic neoplasms; cysts and benign tumors; portal hypertension and esophageal varices - Colon/rectum; diverticular disease, benign and malignant neoplasms, ischemic colitis, chronic inflammatory bowel diseases - Anorectal pathology: fissures, hemorrhoids, abscesses, prolapse, fistulas, benign and malignant tumors - Abdominal wall: hernias and incisional hernias
