The course aims to provide students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Education with foundational knowledge of the main clinical conditions relevant to health and social care settings, in order to understand the care, relational, and educational needs of individuals affected by these diseases. By the end of the course, students will be able to recognize the most common signs and symptoms, understand the impact of illness on quality of life, and collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team in planning appropriate educational and rehabilitative interventions.
Course Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of human anatomy and physiology is required, particularly concerning the cardiovascular, respiratory, urinary, and hematologic systems, as well as fundamental concepts of general pathology and medical terminology necessary to understand the pathophysiological processes addressed in the course.

The course addresses the main clinical conditions relevant to professional educators, including venous thromboembolism (VTE), respiratory diseases, anemias, cerebrovascular diseases, heart failure, acute kidney injury (AKI) and chronic kidney disease (CKD), urinary tract infections (UTIs), and ischemic syndromes. For each condition, essential pathophysiological mechanisms, clinical manifestations, general therapeutic approaches, and functional consequences will be examined, with particular attention to the role of the professional educator in supporting individuals and families, promoting treatment adherence, and preventing complications.
