To develop a comprehensive understanding of Early Modern history through an in-depth study of the Republic of Venice, from its origins to its dissolution in 1797.
Course Prerequisites
A basic knowledge of Early Modern history acquired at secondary school.
Teaching Methods
Lectures, with screenings of films and documentaries.
Assessment Methods
The exam will be a two-hour written test. It will consist of three open-ended questions on the topics covered in the course.
Contents
Social, political, economic, and environmental history, as well as the diplomatic and intellectual history of Venice.
