The course consists of 12 hours of lectures (1 CFU) with presentation of slides in Power Point. The slides are available on e-learning.
Contents
The lessons will cover the following topics: - Cultural anthropology and biological anthropology: the origins and history of the disciplines; - Paleoanthropology, pre-Australopithecines; - Australopithecines: morphological analysis of fossil remains: A. anamensis, A. afarensis, A. africanus; - Paleoanthropology, genus Homo. Morphological analysis of the species: H. habilis, H. rudolfensis, H. ergaster, H. erectus, H. antecessor, H. denisova, H. heidelbergensis, H. neanderthalensis, H. rhodesiensis, H. sapiens; - Learning in the evolution of the genus Homo; - Biomechanics in paleoanthropology; - Osteoarchaeology and physical anthropology: the study of human remains (mummified, cremated, skeletonized); -Anthropometry: metric measurements of the skeleton and calculation of body indices. Analysis of constitutional profiles; -The concept of ethnocentrism and cultural relativism; -Medical anthropology and intercultural skills for healthcare professionals; -Cultural issues in healthcare practice through the analysis of clinical experiences.
