The course's learning objectives will be achieved through lectures totaling 30 hours, covering the basics of General Pathology and Immunology. Lectures will alternate with quizzes and small-group presentations to review the topics covered. Attendance is mandatory.
Assessment Methods
A final exam covering all topics included in the program is required to verify achievement of the objectives of the General Pathology Course. The exam consists of a written test comprising 32 multiple-choice questions, with 1 point awarded for each correct answer and 0 points for each incorrect or missing answer. The exam is passed with a score of 18/32 or higher.
Contents
Through the General Pathology course, students acquire basic knowledge of modern cellular and molecular pathology, as well as multicellular degenerative, inflammatory, and neoplastic pathological processes. Part of the course is dedicated to the study of natural and acquired mechanisms of immunity. Particular attention is given to the study of acute and chronic inflammation with related specific pathologies, the pathogenesis of retrovirus-mediated acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), and the study of the onset, maintenance, and spread of neoplastic processes. Given the importance of cancer immunotherapy in the last decade, its preventive and therapeutic applications in the field of cancer will be discussed.
