In this course, identified outcomes are to introduce the student to nursing science and to the basic principles of nursing care, considering the Caring Model of the Human Processes (MAPU) and International Classification of Nursing Practice (ICNP). This course is divded in two differen moduli: 1. GENERAL NURSING – 4CFU 2. NURSING METHODOLOGY – 5CFU EXPECTED RESULTS At the end of the course the studenti is able to: 1. Identify the most important issues of Nursing science 2. Carry out a first general assessment of the person's state of health using the means and tools of nursing science. 3. Place nursing assessment within the nursing care process, starting from the identification of the status of the human processes involved to develop a nursing care plan 4. Begin to learn the clinical reasoning process to identify nursing diagnoses expressed with the International Classification of Nursing Practice (ICNP®). 5. Identify appropriate nursing outcomes and interventions based on the characteristics of the person and what has been learned in this first year of the course.

Teaching Methods
The teaching module will develope through frontal lessons; during tjhe lessons the lecturer will use slide to synthesize and simplify the contents. During the lessons care cases will be presented and discussed, to give substance to the theoretical contents; the presentation of cases will make use of active learning methodology such as role play if the teaching conditions will allow it. Video will be used to exemplify mare practical contents. Also 4 hours of trainig on phisical exam will be planned in order to experience the techniques of phisical exam.
Assessment Methods
2 tests in progress, if these are passed, the student goes to the oral exam, otherwise on the scheduled date of the exam, repeats the written exam and if passed, goes to the oral exam. The grade obtained in this course will be averaged with the evaluation of the other integrated modules of the course in proportion to the weight of the credits assigned to each course.
Contents
Nursing assessment within the nursing care process. The distinction between subjective and objective data and the use of rating scales. The tools for the assessment: observation aimed at nursing care, a structured and semi-structured interview and some communication techniques, and physical examination. Evaluation of data, signs and symptoms that concur to identify a state of normality, risk of alteration or alteration of human processes that contribute to human wellness and health. Particularly the assessment of groups of human processes that concur to survival, safety, new energy, relationship and development of a human beenig. Formulation of some nursing diagnoses related to nursing sensitive outcomes. Examples of MAPU-oriented care planning with the use of ICNP®.
