The course consists of 15 hours of lessons. The teaching includes: -theoretical lessons -discussion of case studies. The slides are available on e-learning.
Contents
The lectures will cover the following topics: -cultural anthropology: definition of culture, including ethnocentrism and cultural relativism; - medical anthropology: introduction to the practice of medical anthropological research, the concepts of illness and treatment in different human societies; - medical anthropology in health services and strategies for culturally sensitive care; - cultural representations of the body in different human societies; - different approaches to care in different human societies; - analysis of clinical experiences and ethical and cultural issues in nursing practice.
