In the Physiology module, students will acquire the fundamental principles of cellular physiology, with particular reference to the mechanisms regulating the functioning of the cell as the basic functional unit of the human organism. The course will also provide an understanding of the basic functioning of the main body systems, specifically the nervous, muscular, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, and excretory systems. At the end of the module, students will be able to describe and understand the physiological mechanisms underlying the integrated functioning of these systems and of the organism as a whole, with the aim of providing the biological foundations necessary to understand the person in different educational and socio-healthcare contexts.
Course Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of biology and anatomy
Teaching Methods
The students will have front lectures with slides. Students are encouraged to interact with teachers with questions and curiosities. Slides will be available on the e-learning page of the Physiology course.
Assessment Methods
The final exam consists of a multiple-choice test performed on a Personal Computer. Students are expected to give answers to 16 questions in 24 minutes. Each question earns 2 points for the correct answer and 0 for each wrong or missing answer. The exam is passed for final scores equal to or higher than 18/32.
