Syllabus

Course Objectives

Recognize the morphological characteristics of tissues, cells and subcellular structures of human organism.

Course Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of biology, chemistry, histology and anatomy acquired during secondary school is required.

Teaching Methods

Lessons will be held face-to-face with an attendance requirement Students are invited to interact with the teacher The material is made available to the student for free consultation and it is absolutely forbidden to disseminate it to third parties who are not authorized to access and download it on their device. The course will be structured with lectures followed by a moment, at the end of each lesson, of discussion on the subject Classes are supported by optional meetings with tutors, who are made available each year to help in the study of students who need it

Assessment Methods

Students register for the exam through the usual procedure, (Esse3) On the day of the exam you must show your university card or a non-expired identity document with identification photo. The oral exam consists of questions relating to the course program of the C.I. to define the ability to understand (20%), the ability to apply knowledge and understanding (20%), the autonomy of judgment (10%), the ability to learn (20%) and communication skills (30%). Single final mark out of thirty for the C.I. The commission will be composed of at least two teachers. For the exam, clothing appropriate to the institutional moment is required.

Cell membrane: structure, functions and specialisations Cytoplasmic organelles: smooth and rough endoplasmic reticulum, ribosomes, Golgi apparatus, lysosomes, phagocytosis vesicles, mitochondria, cytoskeleton and centriole: structure and function Nucleus: morphology and composition. DNA, RNA. Brief overview of protein synthesis. Mitosis and meiosis. Tissues: Epithelial tissue: introduction to tissues Epithelial tissue lining, classification, membrane specialisations Glandular tissue. Exocrine and endocrine glandular epithelia, secretion cytology Connective tissues: Connective tissue proper, fundamental substance Cartilage tissue Bone tissue Blood: plasma and blood cells Muscle tissue: striated skeletal, smooth, cardiac Nervous tissue: neuron, extensions, nerve fibres, synapses, neuromuscular junction. Glial cells
