Today we need to redefine deontology and specifically medical deontology to better clarify its meaning and consequently its role. This is a pressing task as deontology risks seriously to become marginal, being squeezed between law and bioethics. There are elements that delineate the deontological profile in a unique and original way. Starting from these elements, we will also illustrate some practical aspects.
