An unusual case of tumor of the facial mesostructure

An unusual case of malignant tumour of the mesostructure of the face is reported. Biopsy and wide surgical excision had been carried out elsewhere. An interdisciplinary approach to treatment was taken in view of the size of the relapse and the uncertain diagnosis. Prior to further surgical excision, inductive multiple chemio-therapy was given. Biopsy was repeated, wide removal performed, completed by closure of cervical vessels and dissection of lymph nodes. Unfortunately, the patient when first seen was in such an advanced phase of regional invasion that only partial excision was possible. The tragedy of the case stresses the need for correct diagnosis and early treatment of cases which are difficult to cure.
