Qualità e quantità vocalica in sillaba tonica finale nel lombardo di Premana: un'analisi fonetico-acustica.

The present contribution is an acoustic-phonetic investigation on the vowel quality and quantity opposition in final stressed syllables in the Lombard variety of Premana in Valsassina. For this purpose, analysis of duration and of formants, acoustic correlates of vowel quantity and quality respectively, was carried out on the two poles of eight vowel couples in opposition, long tense and short lax vowels, produced by two speakers from Premana. According to this data, duration, thus vowel quantity, is the main parameter distinguishing the two poles of the vowel couples. The quality of the short and long vowel of each couple refers to the same phonetic space. The slight centralization of short vowels is likely due to ipoarticulation, given their minor duration.
