Overview

I am a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor (Type B) in Chinese Language and Culture at the Department of Theoretical and Applied Sciences, University of Insubria. I obtained my PhD in Linguistic, Literary and Intercultural Studies in European and Extra-European Perspectives from the University of Milan in 2020, with a dissertation in Chinese critical lexicography focusing on the discursive and diachronic analysis of the Xiandai Hanyu Cidian (Dictionary of Modern Chinese), a topic that also resulted in a monograph (LED, 2022). From 2019 to 2023, I held adjunct teaching positions at several Italian universities. From June 2021 to October 2024, I was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Mediations at the University of Milan, where I worked on a research project devoted to the analysis of contemporary Chinese political discourse, with particular attention to education. I am a member of the Scientific Board of the Research Centre on Minorities (CERM, University of Insubria) and of the Contemporary Asia Research Centre (CARC, University of Milan). My research and publications are situated within the field of discourse analysis and explore the interconnections between language, discourse, and ideology in contemporary China, particularly in the domains of political and media discourse as well as lexicography. My current research focuses, on the one hand, on the critical analysis of institutional discourse in contemporary China, with particular attention to themes related to development, science and technology communication, scientific popularisation, and education (including political speeches, textbooks, and television documentaries); on the other hand, it investigates Chinese lexicographic products from a critical discourse-analytical perspective.

Dis-4Change: Studies on Climate Change and Environmental Discourse - Dis-4Change: Studies on Climate Change and Environmental Discourse is an Interuniversity Research Centre which promotes research and public engagement on climate change and environmental discourse. It provides a collaborative space for researchers who investigate how climate change and the environment are communicated, narrated, and socially constructed to identify its linguistic, discursive, narrative and multimodal strategies in dialogue with related studies in the humanities and social sciences. It advances research and public engagement projects on the communication of climate change and the environment based on the fundamental assumption that the expression and representation of climate and environmental phenomena reflect how they are valued by society and may influence habits and attitudes towards the environment.
