Overview

Dr. Nicola Schiaroli was born in Senigallia (AN) in 1989. In 2019, he received his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bologna, Department of Industrial Chemistry. During his PhD and Post-doc in Bologna, he worked on the synthesis and characterization of new heterogeneous catalysts for different industrial applications. His research studies were focused on the steam and dry reforming of biogas to green syngas, water gas shift reaction, and on the carbon dioxide hydrogenation for methanol synthesis. In 2021, he joined the Department of Science and High Technology of University of Insubria (Como), where he is junior assistant professor (fixed term) in the field of heterogenous catalysis from 2022. His recent work is focused on the development of new catalysts and innovative processes for the valorization of biomass-derived molecules to produce different high-added value chemicals and biofuels. Since 2022 he has been holding the course of “Waste treatment and water purification” of the bachelor’s degree in chemistry and industrial chemistry (University of Insubria).
