MASTROPIERRO LORENZO

Since July 2024, I have been an Associate Professor of English Language, Translation and Linguistics (ANGL-01/C) in the Department of Theoretical and Applied Sciences at the University of Insubria. Previously, I held the position of Lecturer (2021–2024) at the same university and served as Honorary Research Fellow (2020–2025), Teaching Associate (2017–2020) and Teaching Affiliate (2012–2015) at the University of Nottingham, as well as Research Associate (2016–2017) and Teaching Fellow (2016) at the University of Birmingham. I obtained my PhD in English Linguistics from the University of Nottingham, and hold an MA in Translation Theory and Practice and a BA in Modern Languages and Literatures from the University of Bari Aldo Moro. My research primarily focuses on corpus linguistics, stylistics and translation studies, and develops at the multidisciplinary intersection of these three fields, with the aim of advancing new approaches to textual analysis and to the comparison of original texts and translations. My current research interests include: (i) the application of quantitative corpus-linguistic methodologies to translation research, particularly in the field of literary translation; (ii) the stylistic analysis and comparison of original and translated texts; and (iii) the investigation, through reader-response methodologies, of the perception of linguistic features and their effects on textual interpretation.
