Overview

Associate Professor of Archival Science at the University of Insubria. Instructor at the APD School of the State Archives of Turin. For over a decade, he served as an adjunct professor of Archival Science at the University of Turin and later at the Universities of Verona and Bologna. Member of the National Executive Board of AIDUSA, the Scientific Committee of ANORC Professioni, and the editorial boards of various journals and book series. Expert in records management within the context of the digital transition of the public administration and the digitization of cultural heritage. He conducts research on multi-typological description models and archival representation, as well as on issues of digital promotion, with a special focus on municipal, corporate, personal, author, and artist archives, and on archives of contemporary culture and creativity.

PREVIOUS POSITION AT
the University of Udine from 2019 to September 30, 2025: Associate Professor of Archival Science and Digital Archival Science in the Department of Humanities and Cultural Heritage at the University of Udine (competition sector 11/A4, SSD M-STO/08). Coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Cultural Heritage, 2022–2025. Member of the Faculty Board for the Doctoral Program in Art History, Cinema, Audiovisual Media, and Music (since 2021). PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Since 2024, Project Manager for the Maggioli and Sinapsys srl Consortium on “Carta” projects funded by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage (MiC) and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR-M1C3) 1.1.5 “Digitization of Cultural Heritage” (Lombardy, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Calabria, Basilicata, and Puglia regions; State Archives of Bari).
Other positions at universities and advanced training institutions
- Since 2023, adjunct professor at the School of Archival Science, Paleography, and Diplomatics at the State Archives of Turin. Teaches “Diplomatics of Contemporary Documents I” and “Software Applications for Archival Description.”
- Since 2022, lecturer for the Advanced Training Course in Contemporary Archival Science at the Central State Archives.
- In the 2023–2024 academic year, served as a substitute associate professor in the master’s degree program in “Archival Science and Records Management” at Alma Mater Europaea – Evropski center in Maribor (Slovenia, Koper campus). Taught “Theoretical Foundations of Archival Science and Archival Ethics.”
- From the 2015–2016 academic year to the 2020–2021 academic year, adjunct professor at the School of Advanced Studies at the Central Institute for the Pathology of Archives and Books (ICPAL). Taught “History of Archives.”

- Employee of the Piedmont Region: From July 2008 to November 2019, he served as an official in the Libraries, Archives, and Cultural Institutions Division of the Piedmont Region, with responsibilities related to coordinating activities and conducting preliminary assessments regarding archival matters and photographic, audio, audiovisual, and documentary cultural heritage for the purposes of description, digitization, and promotion. Technical lead for the development projects of the Digital Ecosystem for Culture and the Mèmora application. Coordinator of activities for the Piedmont local newspapers portal. Promoter of the Archimista software. Promoter of the regional adoption of the open-source software Collective Access. Former manager of the Guarini Archivi software. Member of the Regional Directorate for Culture’s EU Project Planning Group (DD.R.P. 32/2015) and of the Working Group on Cohesion Policy Planning for 2021–2027. Deputy head of the Homogeneous Organizational Area (DD.R.P. 679/2015). Holder of a technical organizational position titled “Specialized functions in the processing and digitization of cultural heritage, with particular reference to the management and online promotion of historical archives and documentary heritage.”
- Employee of the Municipality of Novi Ligure: From December 2004 to July 2008, official in the Culture Department of the Municipality of Novi Ligure (AL). Head of the Municipal Archives Service, the Rare Books Collection of the Civic Library, and the Novi Ligure Archival System. Editor of the “Culture” pages on the Municipality’s website. Municipal privacy officer.
- Employee of the Municipality of Rivoli: From 2002 to December 2004, official in charge of the Archives Service and the Records Management Office of the Municipality of Rivoli (TO). Managed the project to digitize document workflows, drafted the Manual for Managing the Electronic Records Management System, and oversaw the historical archive, the storage archive, and pilot projects for the digitization of records. Served as the municipal privacy officer and drafted the Security Policy Document (DPS).
- Training activities: Since 1996, consultant and trainer for Formel, LineAtenei, LineaPA, Caldarini & Associati, DM Cultura, Centro studi enti locali, IAL-Piemonte, and the Regional Education Office for Piedmont, the Karmel Foundation, Casa di Carità Arti e Mestieri, Consaf-Turin, CSEA-Turin, the City of Venaria, Euroged-Turin, Poliedra-Turin, and the UNESCO Center in Turin on topics including the digital transition of public administration, IT protocols, management and selection of contemporary documents, analog and digital archives, documentary cultural heritage, and personal data processing. Responsible for coordinating activities and training project staff, collaborators, volunteers, and civil service volunteers assigned to archival tasks.
- Freelance archivist: From 1990 to 2002, responsible for reorganizing over two hundred historical and administrative archives located in Piedmont. Among others: the municipalities of Alessandria, Asti, and Cuneo; the dioceses of Alessandria, Asti, and Tortona; and mutual aid societies in the provinces of Alessandria, Asti, Cuneo, Novara, and Turin. Additionally: the archives of Indesit, Fiom-Turin, Spi-Turin, PCI-Turin, the Turin Stock Exchange, the Asti Chamber of Commerce, the National Film Archive of the Resistance in Turin, the Piedmont Regional Media Library, the Omegna Local Health Authority, IP.AS.VI. in Alessandria, and the Turin Feminist Movement. Next: the “War Damage” Fund of the Turin Finance Administration, the Regional Public Works Office for Piedmont, and the Higher Institute of Organization in Turin. Inventories of the archives of Piedmontese cultural associations, anti-nuclear and environmentalist movements in the city and province of Turin, corporate archives in the city and province of Turin, and political archives in the city and province of Turin.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Ph.D. in Documentary, Linguistic, and Literary Sciences, Curriculum in Book and Document Sciences (31st cycle), Field M-STO/08 at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 2019. Thesis titled: The Municipal Archives from the Astengo Circular to 1915. Manuals, classification models, and the adoption of Ministerial Circular 17100-2 of 1897. Grade: excellent.
- Librarian’s diploma obtained upon completion of the regional course in 1992.
- Diploma in Archival Science, Paleography, and Diplomatics obtained through a two-year course at the State Archives of Turin in 1990.
