At this University, he currently teaches the Paleontology course for the Bachelor's Degree in Environmental and Natural Sciences, and the Paleoecology and Structure and Function of Ancient Vertebrates courses for the Master's Degree in Environmental Sciences.
In the 2019/2020 academic year, he also taught the Vertebrate Paleontology course for the Master's Degree in Biogeosciences: Ecosystem Analysis and Science Communication, at the University of Milan.
Previously, he also taught the following courses:
2001-2002 academic year: seminars for the General and Systematic Paleontology course at the University of Insubria in Varese for the Bachelor's Degree in Natural Sciences. Co-author of a handout on Vertebrate Paleontology.
Academic Year 2002-2003: Paleontology course (5 credits) for the Analysis and Management of Natural Resources program, a 2-credit module for the Anatomy and Functional Morphology of the Vertebrate Skeleton course for the Master's Degree in Analysis and Management of Natural Resources program, a 1-credit module for the Biodiversity Models in Museology course for the same program, and a 2-credit module for the Scientific Museology course for the Communication Sciences program.
Academic Year 2003-2004: Substitute for a 2-credit module for the Zoology course for the Degree in Environmental and Cultural Heritage Sciences at the Faculty of Science in Como.
Research activity: Study of Mesozoic fossil reptiles, particularly from the Middle and Late Triassic of Northern Italy. Research focuses primarily on functional morphology, paleoecology, and paleobiology. The results of his research have been published in around eighty articles in foreign and Italian scientific journals and presented at various international conferences. He was co-organizer of the Third International Symposium on Lithographic Limestones (1999) and editor of the Symposium volume. Studies are underway on new finds from the Middle Triassic of the Varese area and on the correlations between some forms from the Italian Upper Triassic and little-known contemporary forms from England and North America, initially in collaboration with Prof. S. Evans (Imperial College, London) and Dr. Nicholas Fraser (Natural History Museum Martinsville USA, Natural History Museum Edinburgh UK). Scientific director of the international workshop Eudimorphodon, 30 years since its discovery, held in Bergamo on 7 November 2003 and editor of the symposium volume. He has collaborated with Dr. Spencer Lucas and Dr. Justin Spielmann of the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, on a comparative study of Italian and American faunas. He is currently collaborating with Dr. Rudolf Stockar of the Cantonal Museum of Natural History in Lugano on an analysis of the vertebrate faunas of new Middle Triassic localities in the historic paleontological district of Monte San Giorgio, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. He is also working with Dr. Evelyn Kustatscher of the Natural History Museum in Bolzano on interesting Triassic finds in the Dol

Research activities: His research focuses primarily on the functional morphology, paleoecology, and paleobiology of Mesozoic fossil reptiles, particularly from the Middle and Late Triassic of Northern Italy, in correlation with contemporary English and North American forms. This has led to numerous international collaborations: with Prof. S. Evans (Imperial College, London), Dr. Nicholas Fraser (Natural History Museum Martinsville, USA, Natural History Museum Aberdeen, UK), and Dr. Spencer Lucas and Dr. Justin Spielmann of the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. Research on the vertebrate faunas of Middle Triassic localities in the historic paleontological district of Monte San Giorgio, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, conducted in collaboration with the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Milan, the Natural History Museum of Milan, and the Cantonal Museum of Natural History of Lugano, has led to the discovery of new taxa and revisions to the stratigraphic and paleobiogeographic distribution of other groups.
The research results have been published in ninety-seven articles in foreign and Italian scientific journals and presented at several international conferences.
Co-organizer of the Third International Symposium on Lithographic Limestones (1999) and editor of the symposium volume. Scientific director of the international workshop "Eudimorphodon, 30 Years of Discovery," held in Bergamo on November 7, 2003, and editor of the symposium volume.
Membre of the Transnational Scientific Committee for the UNESCO site of MOnte San Giorgio (Italy, Switzerland) fromn 2016 to 2023.
Teaching Activities: For three years, he was responsible for the reptile section of the Vertebrate Paleontology Course for Natural Sciences in Milan.
