I'm a tenure-track researcher in ecology at the University of Insubria (Italy). Since the beginning of my PhD in Environmental Sciences, I have been studying the environmental transport of persistent organic pollutants with a particular interest in the bioaccumulation of organochlorine compounds in lake trophic webs and in the consequent ecological and sanitary risk. Since 2011, I have been awarded with research grants in ecohydraulics by the University of Insubria. I am expert in river biocenosis and in the use of benthic macroinvertebrates as bioindicators to assess the impacts of hydro-morphological alterations due to water diversions and flushing of sediments from hydropower reservoirs. My current research project focuses on the collection of the information needed to improve water resource management from an ecological viewpoint. I am also interested in geometric-morphometrics application to understand the phenotypic variability of cryptic species to address issues related to endemisms conservation, and in the application of entomopathogens to counteract the spread of invasive insect pests.
