AGOSTI MASSIMO

Professor Massimo Agosti is Full Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Insubria. He is Director of the Maternal and Child Health Department at ASST Sette Laghi and Director of the Pediatric Units of Varese and Cittiglio. Since November 2024, he has served as National President of the Italian Society of Neonatology. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery and specialized in Pediatrics at the University of Milan. He subsequently completed advanced training in Neonatology and further postgraduate education at Tufts University in Boston, USA. Throughout his career, he has held numerous clinical, academic, and leadership positions, including Director of the Residency Program in Pediatrics at the University of Insubria, President of the Lombardy Section of the Italian Society of Neonatology, and Vice President of the Italian Society of Neonatology. His scientific activity focuses primarily on Neonatology and Neonatal Intensive Care, with particular interest in neonatal nutrition, the promotion of breastfeeding, allergy prevention, the management of preterm and critically ill newborns, follow-up of high-risk infants, neonatal infections, and the epidemiology of neonatal outcomes. He has coordinated and served as Principal Investigator in numerous national and international multicenter clinical studies. Since 2021, he has coordinated the Lombardy Regional Birth Pathway Working Group and is a member of the Lombardy Regional Vaccination Committee. He is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education at the University of Insubria. He is the author of numerous scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and presentations at national and international conferences, where he regularly participates as a speaker, moderator, and session chair.
