Research interests
Neuro- and immunopharmacology with particular regard to the molecular mechanisms and the clinical relevance of the neuroendocrine modulation of the immune response. Recent research concerns the pharmacological modulation of endogenous catecholamines in human lymphocytes and its functional relevance in health and disease such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease. Other interests include: clinical pharmacology and pharmacogenetics, pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacovigilance, pharmacology of herbal medicines. Techniques: ex vivo cellular models of immune response, cell cultures, animal models, molecular biology techiniques (RT-PCR, western blot), HPLC-ED, HPLC-UV, flow cytometry with cell sorting, spectrofluorimetry.
