Rapid prediction and diagnosis of SEPsis in Solid Organ Transplant: The Italian national initiative for an interactive risk-stratification and Cost-optimization Online DatabasE
ProgettoSepsis is among the most feared infectious complications during the peri transplant period and may dramatically influence the final outcome of solid organ transplant (SOT). The available clinical and laboratory markers are often very poor in the prediction and early detection of sepsis, thus making the definition of a reliable and timely prognostic and diagnostic flow-chart a still unmet medical need. In this project, we propose to create an interactive artificial intelligence-based database and predictive algorithm using a wide panel of clinical, immunological, together with conventional and non-conventional microbiological parameters from solid-organ donors and solid organ-transplanted patients with suspected sepsis. Six among the major Italian solid organ transplant centers (Grande Ospedale Metropolitano Niguarda – GOMNi-MI; Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Pisana – AOU-PI; Azienda Ospedaliera di Rilievo Nazionale “Antonio Cardarelli” - AOCar-NA; Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Città della Salute e della Scienza - Ospedale Molinette; AOUCdS-TO; Ospedale di Circolo–Fondazione Macchi – UnInsuVA; Ospedale San Giovanni di Dio Ruggi d’Aragona – UniSA) will be included with more than 550 transplants expected in the first year of the project.
