The Center pursues the following purposes:
a. promote the research and development of epidemiological and statistical methodology applied to biological phenomena and pathologies of significant interest and to prevention, diagnosis and therapy interventions;
b. promote and carry out research to identify the main disease risk factors, with particular reference to lifestyle (diet, physical activity), psycosocial factors, environmental factors, biological and genetic factors, and the interactions between them, to contribute to an ever greater and effective prevention;
c. promotes and carries out research for the evaluation of health services as well as the quality of preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic services, in terms of effectiveness, efficiency and appropriateness;
d. promote and carry out research in the occupational and environmental fields, with particular reference to toxicological and hygienic aspects;
e. promote research on the social implications of diseases with a significant impact on the population, in a gender, social condition and ethnicity perspective;
f. encourage collaboration with other national and foreign research bodies (universities, centers of reference, foundations, etc.), in order to promote epidemiological research and disease prevention;
g. promote and participate in observational, clinical and experimental studies, including assessing the quality of life of patients and caregivers;
h. carry out literature reviews on topics of interest to prevention in medicine, promoting the use of meta-analysis techniques;
i. promote the comparison, dissemination and dissemination of epidemiological and preventive medicine knowledge through training courses, conferences, publishing initiatives and information campaigns;
j. to establish training programs on epidemiological and statistical methodologies in the medical field as well as on the methodological and applicative aspects of preventive medicine and to contribute to the training of doctors, health professionals, teachers and researchers
