Syllabus

Course Objectives

- Know the main types of biological samples (urine, feces, sputum, blood, swabs, semen, etc.)
- Apply sampling techniques correctly, respecting the type of analysis (chemical-physical, cultural, cytological, etc.) and adhering to the required guidelines and protocols.
- Ensure the integrity and quality of the sample collected through appropriate collection, storage and transport, avoiding contamination, alterations and deterioration.
- Use devices and instruments safely and effectively, with particular attention to the use of needles, test tubes, sterile containers, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Apply safety and biological risk prevention regulations, protecting yourself, the patient, and the work environment from exposure to potential hazards.
- Observe the principles of asepsis and antisepsis to reduce the risk of sample contamination and reduce the risk of cross-infection.
- Recognize and manage critical situations or minor complications related to blood collection, such as hematomas and difficulty with venous access.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providing clear and reassuring explanations, to encourage collaboration and reduce anxiety in all age groups.
- Promote an ethical and responsible approach to the handling of biological material during collection, respecting the privacy, individuality, and dignity of the individual, and complying with current regulations.
